The Australian Youth Ultimate Championships were held on the weekend, so shout outs go to all involved. Congratulations to the NZ team for taking the number one spot in a closely fought final over WA, and VIC for fielding a girl's team! We'd like to channel that youth energy into momentum for the National U19s campaign for World Juniors in 2014.

The WFDF still don't have the exact dates and location for WJUC yet, but the championships are expected to run in July 2014.

With no update from the WFDF we've decided to extend the deadline for coaches  and manager Expressions of Interest. The EOIs are now due Oct 31 and we hope to announce the positions by Nov 8, pending confirmation from WFDF of WJUC.

Please find the selection criteria for coaches  and managers at these links:

The AFDA would like to announce the timeline for the Australian Junior
teams campaigns for the WFDF 2014 World Junior Ultimate Championships.
This is for the information of potential coaches, selectors and
players of the Australian Junior (U19s) Open and Women's teams.

The location and exact date of WJUC 2014 will be announced by the WFDF
is expected in the next month, but WJUC will most likely be July 2014.

A special appointment panel with youth ultimate experience will assess
the applications for coaches and selectors. Once endorsed by the AFDA
board, this initial staff group will be the primary drivers of the
World Juniors campaigns.

The appointed coaches and selectors, in consultation with the AFDA
Director of HP, are expected to determine:
- whether further selectors or coaching staff will be added to the group
- the timing of selection camps and team announcements
- the campaign plan
- the style of play the team will train towards

Coaching and running a Juniors U19s campaign is very different and
more involved than coaching a senior team. Coach applicants must have
a Level 1 coaching accreditation and the relevant state Working with
Children Card or Blue Card check.

It is highly desirable that potential coaches and selectors are
present at the Australian Youth Ultimate Championships (AYUC) in
Melbourne on Oct 5-6th. It is expected that this tournament will be
used as the first "unofficial" selection event, however selection
events will be held into next year, and possibly before the end of
this year.

Furthermore, applications from those coaching state Youth teams at
AYUC will be given significantly higher weighting than applications
from those who aren't coaching a state team.

Applications for coaches, managers and selectors are now open and do
not close until 20th Oct, after AYUC.

17th Sep: Applications for coaches, manager and selectors open
5-6th Oct: Australian Youth Ultimate Championships (AYUC) - highly
recommended that applicants attend
20th Oct: Applications for coaches, manager and selectors close
31st Oct: Coaches, manager and selectors announced
Nov 2013: Coaches, manager and selectors put together campaign
calendar and announce selection events
Dec 2013 - Mar 2014: Selection events, TBA.
~Mar/Apr 2014: Open and women U19s teams announcement expected
July 2014?: WJUC 2014

Please send your application (also if you have any questions)  to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by 20th October 2013
